This seven-year makeover of a 1940 rancher overlooking the San Francisco bay, started with the landscaping. I planted bamboo (for later building) and a garden with edibles and drought tolerant natives. I expanded the house with multiple French doors to outdoor rooms and also opened the interior rooms, replacing walls with built-in bookcases. A small addition expanded a tiny, galley cooking area into an eat-in kitchen with expansive views to the Golden Gate Bridge and a reclaimed yellow Cyprus deck. The warm colors of recycled Douglas Fir and wheat-board cabinets and a Natural Cork floor harmonize with the handcrafted natural pigment milk paint finishes.
